About the workshop

MLB are my initials. Every light carries them.

MLB Innovation is the lighting workshop of Marcos Lira Brandão — restoring, rewiring and installing lighting for antique dealers, interior designers, hotels and private clients.

For nearly 15 years I have worked on lighting of every kind — from grand crystal chandeliers in drawing rooms to a single table lamp that has been in a family for generations.

It all began at The French House London (Antiques), where I learned the craft. I will always be grateful to them: it was an open door, and the place where I discovered a real passion. I had always been good with my hands — there I learned that this work asks just as much for patience and persistence.

From installations, repairs and cleaning, the work became more specialist: rewiring, resizing, restoring pairs and sets, and upgrading vintage wall lights so they can be used safely in bathrooms.

Today most of my work comes from the interiors trade — designers and dealers who send me pieces project after project, some for more than ten years. The same care goes into every piece, whoever it belongs to.

I always aim to do the very best I can. For me, this has never been only about the money — a client’s satisfaction is part of my payment, and I work to earn it every time.

How I work

Three things every client can expect.

I

Honest advice

You will know what can be saved, what it will cost and how long it will take before any work begins.

II

Respect for the piece

Original character is kept wherever possible. Repairs are made to last, not to hide problems.

III

One pair of hands

The person who assesses your lighting is the person who restores it — and brings it back.
